|Recommended: YesThis is the first apartment I have called home — I really like this apartment. My dog is comfortable here with his disability. As an artist being close to downtown is great and being far enough away to have quiet time is a blessing. I stay up pretty late at night and despite occasional noise from the hallways this building is extremely quiet. I have never once heard a dog bark and I know there are at-least a few in the building. Parking is also convenient though a bit tight at times. Everyone is polite and we make it work.
|Recommended: YesIf you want a quiet, nice place close to downtown or UW this is the place — I lived in this apartment going on 2 years, and if I could I would stay another There are so many good things about this apartment, it's really hard to name all of them. For one, the people at Steve Brown are so helpful and friendly, it makes me feel really good about renting from them. I also really appreciate their timely approach to any maintenance that I need, if I put in a work request I usually have it fixed either that day or the day after As for the apartment itself, it has beautiful windows and lighting, which is perfect for plants or for pets that love to look around outside. It is always really nice and warm during the Wisconsin winters, and cool enough during the summers if you prop open a window or have a small AC unit put in. I have had very little issues with anything breaking and generally, the quality of the apartment is amazing. You can tell that Steve Brown really takes good care of their apartments. I would 100 recommend this place to a friend.
|Recommended: YesPet-friendly Building Close to Campus — This building is very old and its age shows. The walls, cabinets, and trim in my apartment had been painted so many times that the paint just flaked off. It's hot all year round because the radiators have basically one temperature setting. Due to the retrofit into apartments, there are odd extra doors, narrow halls, and tiny kitchens. That being said, I enjoyed living here. My neighbors were all friendly, and all of us had at least one pet. I think the pet allowance is the 1 draw to this building, along with its proximity to west campus. I loved having so much natural light and many closets for storage. Free laundry in the basement was a plus as well. Maintenance was always prompt and the online portal made it easy to manage my account.
|Recommended: YesPretty Nice Shape — The pricing is a little more that other companies but they make up for it by having maintenance staff come almost immediately and generally good service with their property managers. Headvin house is a little loud since it's such an old building but is in a great location
|Recommended: YesApartments with character and good location — The apartments have character and are a good size and price for a one bedroom. Walls are thin, so sound travels quite easily. Neighbors are all friendly. There's a small yard in the back that is kept nice during the summer but becomes an ice rink during the winter. Apartments have a gas stove and bathtub with laundry on the premises. Maintenance staff respond quickly and are very nice and helpful. The parking lot needs to be extended by about three feet so cars do not block the end garage. Biggest downside to living here is the dozens of high school kids who use the property and garages to dump their garbage, hang out, and smoke weed on a daily basis during the school year.
|Recommended: YesWell kept property — I like that water is a flat fee and that heat is included. My neighbors are nice and noise is always at a minimum. It is spacious for a one bedroom apartment, but the kitchen does have limited counter space. Overall, very happy with my choice in apartment.
